Melbourne Airport taxi
Tullamarine runs around the clock, with your flight tracked so an early or delayed landing does not cost you the car.
How Your Melbourne Airport Taxi Works
Flights tracked
Give us your flight number and the pickup moves with the flight, not the booking time.
Every terminal
T1, T2, T3 and T4. Tell us the airline and you are dropped at the right departures door, and collected from the right pickup point on the way home.
Early departures
The 3am and 4am runs are the ones we take most. Book the night before and it is handled.
Meet and greet
Optional. Your driver waits inside the arrivals hall with a name sign.
Melbourne Airport Taxi Fares, Both Ways
Sedan fares on the day rate, to the airport and back from it, worked out from the published Melbourne metro tariff with the real toll for each route. Coming home costs a little more because the $5.26 airport pickup fee only applies to trips that start at a terminal.

Airport Taxi Prices by Vehicle
A bigger car or Silver Service adds a flat amount to the same metered fare, never a percentage. Here is what each one adds, and what it comes to between the CBD and the airport.
| Car | Seats | Luggage | Added to the fare | CBD to the airport | Airport to the CBD |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sedan | 4 | 2 large and 2 small bags | Nothing | $64 – $79 | $69 – $85 |
| Silver Service | 4 | 2 large and 2 small bags | +$11.00 | $64 – $79 | $69 – $85 |
| SUV or Wagon | 4 | 4 large and 3 small bags | +$17.80 | $81 – $100 | $86 – $106 |

What Your Airport Fare Includes
Every charge below shows as its own line in the estimate before you book. Want a fixed price instead? Call or email and we will agree a fixed fare before you travel.
The meter tariff
The day rate (9am to 5pm) is a $5.40 flag fall, then $2.10 per km or $0.70 per minute in slow traffic. Evenings and overnight (5pm to 9am) start at $6.75 and $2.30 per km. Friday and Saturday nights from 10pm to 4am and public holidays start at $8.00 and $2.55 per km. The fare tables on this page use the day rate.
Airport pickup fee
Melbourne Airport charges taxis $5.26 for every pickup at the terminals, and it is passed on as one line in your fare. Dropping off at departures carries no airport fee, which is why the trip home costs a little more than the trip out.
Tolls, only where the route uses them
The toll for your actual route is worked out when you get a quote, not a flat guess. Many trips from the north and west, such as Sunbury, Craigieburn and Werribee, carry no toll at all.
A bigger car
Silver Service adds $11.00. An SUV or wagon adds $17.80, and so does a maxi taxi. A sedan adds nothing. The amount is the same whatever the distance.
Child seat and meet and greet
Both are optional and quoted when you book, so the price is agreed before the car is sent. Neither is ever added to a fare without you being told first.
Paying in the car
Nothing is paid when you book and there is no deposit. Cash carries no surcharge. Card and Cabcharge payments carry the payment surcharge set by the regulator, printed on your receipt.
Fares are shown as a range because traffic on the day decides how much of the trip runs on the distance meter and how much on the time meter. Waiting you ask for, extra stops or a change of destination are charged on the same meter.
Melbourne Airport Pickup Guide by Terminal
Where to find your booked taxi when you land. The locations follow Melbourne Airport's own guidance for booked taxis.
- When you book, add your flight number. We track the flight, so the pickup moves if you land early or late.
- When you have your bags, call or text us on (03) 9009 0051 and we tell you where the car is waiting.
- Walk to the pickup point for your terminal below, check the car and driver display their accreditation, and you are on your way.
Terminal 1, Qantas domestic
Leave arrivals and cross to the T123 car park opposite the terminals. The booked taxi pickup area is at its north end, the end closest to Terminal 1.
Terminal 2, international
After customs and baggage, head to the same booked taxi pickup area at the north end of the T123 car park, towards Terminal 1. A long queue at immigration does not lose you the car, because the flight is tracked.
Terminal 3, Virgin Australia
Use the same booked taxi pickup area at the north end of the T123 car park. It is a short walk past Terminal 2 towards Terminal 1.
Terminal 4, Jetstar, Rex and Link
Terminal 4 has its own transport hub, separate from the other three. We confirm the exact meeting point at T4 when we confirm your booking, so you know where to walk before you fly.
Meet and greet
If you add meet and greet, your driver waits for you inside the arrivals hall with your name on a sign, then walks you and your bags to the car.
Flying out
We drop you at the departures entrance for your airline, and a drop off carries no airport fee. Tell us the airline when you book.
No booking? Use the official taxi ranks
At Terminal 1 the rank is opposite Qantas domestic arrivals. At Terminal 2 it is right outside international arrivals. Terminal 4 has its rank on the ground level, and Terminal 3 passengers use the Terminal 4 or Terminal 2 rank. Only take a taxi from a marked rank and decline offers of a ride inside the terminal. The same $5.26 pickup fee applies at the rank.
Booked Taxi, Rank, Rideshare or SkyBus
A booked taxi
The car is arranged before you land, the flight is tracked, and you see a fare estimate before you book, or call or email for a fixed quote. Estimates use the same published Victorian tariff as a rank taxi.
A taxi from the rank
No booking needed and the same regulated tariff and pickup fee, but you join the queue, and at busy times that queue can be long. You also take whichever car is next, rather than choosing a maxi or SUV for your luggage.
Rideshare
Collected from the shared taxi and rideshare ranks at the terminals. The price moves with demand, so it can rise when several flights land at once, which a taxi tariff does not do.
SkyBus
A coach to Southern Cross Station in the city, with a ticket for each passenger. It suits one person travelling light. A family or group pays several tickets where a taxi is one fare for the car, and goes door to door.
Melbourne Airport Taxi Questions
How much is a taxi to Melbourne Airport?
From the Melbourne CBD a sedan to the airport is about 25 km and usually costs $64 to $79 on the day rate, including the CityLink toll. Evening, overnight and weekend night tariffs cost more. The table on this page prices twelve suburbs, and the estimator prices your exact address before you book.
How much is a taxi from Melbourne Airport to the CBD?
A sedan from Melbourne Airport to the CBD usually costs $69 to $85 on the day rate. That includes the CityLink toll and the $5.26 airport pickup fee, which is why it costs a little more than the same trip out to the airport. Put both addresses into the estimator for the figure for your exact trip.
Is there an airport fee for taxis at Melbourne Airport?
Yes, but only on pickups. Melbourne Airport charges taxis a $5.26 access fee for every pickup at the terminals, and it shows as its own line in your fare. Dropping off at departures carries no airport fee.
Do I pay tolls on an airport taxi?
Only when your route uses a toll road. From the CBD, Southbank and the south east the quickest route runs on CityLink, and the toll is included in the estimate. From Sunbury, Craigieburn, Point Cook, Werribee and much of the north and west the route carries no toll at all.
Where does a booked taxi pick me up at Melbourne Airport?
For Terminals 1, 2 and 3, a booked taxi collects you from the pickup area Melbourne Airport sets aside for booked taxis, at the north end of the T1, T2 and T3 car park, the end closest to Terminal 1. At Terminal 4 we confirm the meeting point when we confirm your booking. With meet and greet, the driver waits for you inside arrivals instead.
Which terminal do you pick up from at Melbourne Airport?
All four. Terminal 1 is Qantas domestic, Terminal 2 is international, Terminal 3 is Virgin Australia, and Terminal 4 serves Jetstar, Rex and Link. Tell us your airline or flight number and the driver goes to the right one.
Do you wait if my flight is late?
Yes. When you give us a flight number we track the flight, so if you land late the pickup shifts with it and you are not charged for a driver waiting on a booking time that no longer applies.
How early should I book an airport taxi?
For a flight before 8am, book the day before so the car is arranged in good time. For anything later, a few hours is normally enough, though weekday morning peak is worth allowing extra for.
Should I book a taxi or a rideshare from the airport?
Our fares are worked out from the published Victorian taxi tariff, so the rate does not climb when several flights land at once, and you see a fare estimate before you book, or call or email for a fixed quote. Rideshare prices move with demand. For a group with luggage, one maxi taxi carries up to eleven people.
How much luggage fits in an airport taxi?
A sedan takes 2 large and 2 small bags. An SUV or wagon takes 4 large and 3 small bags, and a maxi taxi takes 8 large bags. Choose the car when you book so the right one turns up.
What does Silver Service cost to the airport?
Silver Service adds $11 to the standard fare for the same trip, for a premium car and a suited driver. From the CBD that makes a Silver Service trip to the airport about $64 to $79.
Can I get a baby seat in an airport taxi?
Yes. Tick the child seat option when you book and tell us the age of the child, and the right restraint is fitted before the car arrives. The seat is quoted when you book, so you know the price before the trip.
How can I pay for an airport taxi?
Cash, credit or debit card, Cabcharge or MPTP, paid to the driver in the car. Nothing is paid when you book. Card and Cabcharge payments carry the payment surcharge set by the regulator, shown on your receipt.
Can I cancel an airport booking?
Yes. Nothing is paid when you book, so there is no deposit to lose. Call or text us as soon as your plans change, especially for an early morning pickup, so the driver is not sent.
Do you go to Avalon Airport and Essendon Fields too?
Yes. Melbourne Airport at Tullamarine is where most of our airport trips go, but we run to Avalon Airport and Essendon Fields as well. Enter either one as your pickup or drop off and the estimator prices it the same way. Avalon sits between Melbourne and Geelong, so from Geelong it is a much shorter trip than Tullamarine, and Essendon Fields is closer to the city.
